Covering 1.3 million short position with 26 million shares traded ? 
How about something simple like some institutional players (who did not do the homework prior to purchase of CLL shares) decided to cut their loses and unload the position.
After all it is not so hard to see that CLL will not make any money for as long as the WTI stay blow $100/bbl . Right now they are selling the bitumen about $10 bellow their total cost.
They are surviving now by selling their assets one by one.
