It will be better to focus on what's practical. The NPV arguement give SC a realistic price but, there's the issue of future years. If we discovered a Red Chris that would not be accessed for 40 years what value then? Do we give it away? This is sort of what we find ourselves in. A mine under a mine and assets extending miles away from the main deposit. They have to start somewhere. This is why we focused so much on the main zone. Give us $4 for it and let us spinco the rest. Treat them as descrete deposits. (They have to potential to be mined concurrently.) We have 3 mines in one but why pay for the equipment 3 times. Why not expand to 240t/d 10 years down the road and highgrade everything. This deposit has the capacity to provide Teck with the full resource they stated. It has the life span they need.
This is where the negotiations get tricky. Just because we have more supply than can be accounted for properly doesn't mean we give it away.
