Regardless of Vette's status as a prophet, I do believe that any perception that there may be others ready to bid helps CUU in the negotiations with Teck. Based purely on public comments by Elmer, I believe he is not looking to prolong this or get involved with some sort of bidding war, but the fact that he can hold that out as a threat decreases Teck's leverage somewhat and decreases the chance of a "lowball offer".
