Just watch out for the tax loss trap and/or the supereficial loss trap. The link below give some good advice on how to handle this.

What it doesn't explain is the scenario of transferring with a capital gain, but I would assume that you would have to treat this as a typical capital gain and report this in your respective annual tax return.
