Hi Webgogs
I have a huge amount of respect for you and your posts and would not normally disagree with you.....but....
While saying 'around 20%' and Liard still has a 'chunk' may be a bit on the low side, I think the post from Prospect giving the exact breakdown was the way to respond, not by banning the user. For most on the board, I think this would be sufficient. Is there a warning system in place or is it one strike and you're out? The punishment does not seem to fit the crime and the overtones of Big Brother are very clear.
As it was very quiet on this board, I went over to SH to see what was happening and was a bit dismayed to find that this banning was now a topic of conversation. Even worse, it appears that one of our more respected posters has had a longer term relationship with brundall on another board and describes him as a 'decent' poster. There is now an argument going on at SH which reflects badly on this board. If Agoracom wants to attract more posters and I think it does, then this sort of negative publicity is very counter productive.
just my two cents
