On the same day as this was published in the Guardian they also stated in their blog that this was thought to be posturing on behalf of Merkel to get the bondholders back to the negotiating table. It worked. They came back and lowered their expectations.

There appears to be another deal agreed upon by Greece and the IIF or the bondholders and they await the response of the troika lending the next tranche for Greece. (This is where it went wrong last time.)

Germany is pushing for more control over Greek finances and the whole lot of them are meeting tomorrow.

Just as Greece seems to be getting sorted out, Portugal is having a problem. . . and Spain, Ireland. . .
