Hi serafin, CUU members.
We want to thank you for the many messages you sent us over the weekend over what transpired last week. Indeed the past 48 hours have been tough; for moderators and our members, but we'd like to steal a moment of your time to explain what exactly happened and hopefully answer some of your questions.
Last week Thursday as many of you recall, one now banned member setup about 20 accounts or so, and attempted to manipulate our ratings. Once we our staff was alerted, we provided prompt response and corrected any wrong doings. Then on Friday, another member brought our attention back to this board to review the possibility of other users using more than one accounts. We did that and posted our findings on the board.
It saddens us that long time memebrs here took that action as being members of AGORACOM for quite some time they should know that this is not only activity members do not appreciate, but it can get you in trouble with our staff in terms of being reprimanded. We deleted those accounts, the dozen or so "1" star ratings dished out with some gratuity, in addition to the "5" star rating they gave their primary accounts.
We've since been informed that this has displeased at least one of the members involved in this incident from last Friday, but our staff only reacted to this situation in ways you would expect us to react if another member was indeed doing this. We deleted the phony accounts and the ratings, and reminded you of our expectations if you chose to continue your participation within the community. Our intent was not to cause offense nor were are sanction any indication of your overall input to CUU or AGORACOM; rather, it is just a reminder of our expectations that our members conduct themselves in manners consistent with our six rules of use, in addition to behaviour and rules they expect others to abide by.
Cuuvette350, as written to you by our staff this morning, the matter was closed when the secondary account was deleted, and all the ratings were erased. Our goal is not to cause offense, rather, simply provide a response to concerned members regarding an extra account. As long as this does not happen again, it's water under the bridge. We apologize for causing any offense however, rules are rules and it would not be right if it applied to some members over others. We hope you will see things more objectively once emotions subside.
Thank you all again for your participation within the AGORACOM Community. If you have any further feedback, please send us a note to contactagora@agoracom.com.
Kind Regards,
AGORACOM
