I would go with option 1
Sure people are a little ticked now but they will get over it after all we are not supposed to be buying and selling on emotions. We are supposed to be buying and selling because we believe in what is in the ground.
Traders will get nervous about not having shares, they will buy back in. It's happened before. They would sure be crying if they missed out on a possible buyout before hand. I know I would.
I also think a part of being a longer term invester is that you have to make allowances for the unforseen circumstances that come up every now and again. It's like that feeling you get when you watch a TV series where they leave you hanging in the season finale. Funny I think I was more emotional about the TV series than I was about this! Ahh what's a girl to do? Hang on and hang in I guess.
Any hoo rambling now
still long and keepin the faiith :)
