There is a kerfuffle about proposed changes to the Fisheries Act that makes it legal to destroy waterways provided that it does not result in an adverse effect on a fish of economic, cultural or ecological value.
The current law is much more stringent, "no person shall carry out any work or undertaking that results in the harmful alteration, disruption or destruction of fish habitat."
There is some thought that the change might be tacked onto the budget. Whatever your opinion on a personal level, this would be good for getting environmental permits even though fish is not a problem for us. I wonder if this came about because of Prosperity?
