I just thought I'd add some fun facts about the airstrip. From the Galore Creek PFS:
"The majority of the G&A fixed costs were associated with camp costs including
transportation of crews to site. Air service to Bob Quinn was estimated to be an
average of $500 per round trip, per person. It was assumed that small charter aircraft
reporting to multiple destinations will be utilized to access both local and remote labour
markets. A round trip, per person cost of $75 was applied for bus transport from the
Bob Quinn airstrip to the employee’s assigned camp."
So Galore Creek was planning to utilize the nearby Bob Quinn airstrip for their crew changes. Since Schaft Creek has an airstrip right by their camp, their transportation fees will be approximately 15% less than Galore Creek's because no bus transportation will be required.
Also, the Bob Quinn airstrip is 4270' long and is capable of landing Beach
1900, Dash 8s and Hercules aircraft. The Schaft Creek airstrip is 5282' long so I would assume it can also land these aircrafts. A typical Dash 8 can hold 50 people and a Hercules is an excellent cargo plane.
The Schaft Creek airstrip will be hugely important for both the construction and operation of our project.
