I am not sure you understood my question DP83 but I will try and answer yours.

If Teck offers CUU cash for SC then yes, this would be distributed to shareholders via a special dividend which would be based on a record of holder date.

An interesting fact about dividends is that depending on your tax bracket, they can actually be taxed at a lower rate then capital gains. The most tax efficient method would obviously be to receive Teck shares which then gives the shareholder the right to liquidate in their most tax effective manner. Nevertheless, this is a helpful website that shows the marginal tax rates throughout Canada.
