You know, I've only been a "self-directed" investor for about 3.5 years. I still have a lot to learn but one thing the markets have already taught me is to always be prepared for the unexpected.
Nothing is a sure thing until it's done.
For that reason I think it's a good thing to consider any possibility and have a plan, as well as peace of mind. That's not to say I'm expecting Teck to opt out, not at all.
But can you imagine how this board would light up if news came that Teck chooses not to acquire Schaft Creek? There would be some bewildered and extremely worried shareholders here.
Might as well discuss what we'd expect as a result of such a scenario and how we'd react.
