Ever heard of stakeholder management? Shareholders are stakeholders in a corporation, but stakeholders are not always shareholders. A shareholder owns part of a company through stock ownership, while a stakeholder is interested in the performance of a company for reasons other than just stock appreciation. What about a contractor that tells you that he'll come this week and calls you sunday evening telling you that he expects to come somewhere next month? That is unacceptable! Dont be mistaken.
