Whenever a senior person is let go from a reputable company the receptionist is instructed to put any inquiry about that person through to his/her voicemail. It is considered to be a thoughtful action toward the recently employed person so as to give the impression that he/she is still employed at the company, and to not let the general public know that there has been a parting of the ways, usually an unexpected parting of the ways.
