People seem to believe that a judge would interpret away the 4 -year clause and, perhaps substitute something more reasonable if it came to a legal dispute. Under English Common Law contracts must be construed as they are written. Canadian Law is based upon English Common Law, but can be changed by Legislation or change of precedent. Question is, "Can Canadian judges change this type of contract unilaterally based on the judge's idea of what the contract should have said to make it more "reasonable?".
