I'm going by what happens two times prior when David sold and bought back. This happened twice so yes this is how I am going to spin it.
Yes. This is 100% a tax thing and David is a tax guy.
He always buys them back in the new year. See it as a good thing, since he sold that many , expect him to buy that many back.
Don't forget he owns 12.5 Million shares. The reality is he doesn't care what us retail think about his sell, he does what he wants not caring about how other will perceive it or how it will affect his balance of 12.5 million shares.
