I just can't see EE and ES putting anymore time into this if they think we are only going to get $1.50 per share.

No maybe not - but maybe they have come to realize (through the ongoing discussions with Teck) that they will not get what they were hoping for AND as they are probably blacked out (due to the ongoing discussions with Teck) they have now instead rewarded themselves some "cheap" options (silently) to squeeze a few extra dollar out in a perhaps crappy liquidity event...???
