Message: Re: More Positive Agreements with Tahltan, Good for CUU

Well it does save on paying tax on mining equipment (exempt under PST and taxed under HST). That is something positive as we will get a few % more out of our exploration dollar.

First Nations need money to function as nations. Shared resource revenues align the interests of FNs and the Provincial gov't, it is something Campbell promissed to do and I am glad to see it being followed through on. FNs are tied to their traditional territory on which to earn a living. Their rights are tied to activities that are 200 years old and do not reflect current realities. It is very positive that the province is working out a frameowrk with the Tahltan Gov't so that both can benefit from resource development (modern economic drivers) rather then having the Tahltan on the outside recieving an allowance from the crown.

Another reason why Schaft Creek is on positive footing. It is on the right side of the highway.
