I noticed that bit about the 69,000 kV's too. When I wrote BC Hydro back in January asking them about NTL capacity, and I quoted Kv's, they quickly corrected me to say that capacity is about the Kilowatts not the voltage. In simple terms, voltage is the charge or potential difference between two points in a circuit, while energy (Watts, kilowatts) is the capacity to do work. It is the amount of energy that is the limiting factor with NTL and its ability to suport mines and communities. Today's NR struck me as odd since anyone coming out of some fresh convo's with BCHydro probably got the same physics lesson. That said, transmission efficiency is linked somehow to line voltage so maybe that is what they are getting at.
