Nice post. In response to your last question, which someone may have already answered and you, no doubt have also considered. I only see two explanations.

1) To dissuade other potential suitors. It's like asking a drop-dead gorgeous woman to wear baggy clothes and a sweater to ensure no one will be interested when you go out.

2) To make sure there was no possible way that Teck could say the numbers weren't conservative enough or that the stipulations of the BFS had not been met.

Like you, I'm not sure what to think at this point, but the deadline is coming up soon.
