it stands for tax free savings account. in Canada you can put something like 5k in per year and all gains are tax free. Its in place for 4 or 5 years so given someone invested 5k per year you could have 25k (+ profits, which is not my case as I write this...) You can withdraw whenever you want, without paying any tax on anything. Its meant to get people to save money for any reason they might want to save. Being that investing, retierement savings, etc..
