Here's my official buyout speculation.
Teck and their cohorts have apparently withdrawn their bid for Las Bambas. That was Teck, Newmont, Blackstone and a company called Magris Resources that was started by a former Barrick CEO.
Newmont is sitting near their 52-week low, so their stock is hammered but they obviously have cash if they were thinking about buying Las Bambas.
Magris Resources says this about their company:
- Comprehensive “on‐the ground” operating & technical experience including exploration, pre‐development & operating stage projects
- Strong history of operational turnarounds involving complex mining assets.
So, maybe they are considering working together on another project? Keep the gang together and work on a major project in geopolitically safe BC?
