Message: Mining in Miami

It might be "legal" Prospekt but what would you do if some Canadian company pulled up in your back yard with a drill rig in tow. Think that will fly?

The Miami Town Council endorsed the project in a 6-0 vote with one abstention. The Town Council has said they are not opposed to mining, but of course, they need to see the mine plan before they approve it. They have, however, approved the exploration drilling.

(I would quote the actual council comments but that gives the more lazy people a quick way to track down the work that I've spent time researching and claim they did it themselves.)

The town is looking for a revitalization as they have had few opportunities lately and this mine would give them some much-needed jobs.

In terms of a "Canadian company" showing up with a drill, well I agree that might stick in the craw, but, we will likely only do the exploration--then a nearby major will JV with us and their good American name can be on the record.

I'm not trying to be an apologist for the project but I have been looking at the obvious pitfalls and I don't think this is one of them. I think Desert Fox has to prove up the resource and start building the mine plan and then find a JV. I have heard that Majors are already calling about the project so I think it might actually happen one day. (Maybe even before SC gets going....ha, ha.)
