Not too sure what all the fuss is about on this one ... I live on top of a mine, along with 100 000 other people, and other than the occasional vibration from underground blasts, and the obvious surface structures around the city, there is not much impact from the operations on anyone's daily life.

That being said, nobody has a drill in their backyard either ... all the drilling is underground.
