Interesting how several larger copper / gold mines in Western North America have recently been under dispute:
- Rio tinto and Pebble Beach in Alaska (shelved)
- Booker and Morrsion Mine in NW BC (initially declined by BC govt but under review due to court challenge)
- Taseko and Prosperity Mines in Central BC (declined by Fed Govt)
All 3 proposed mines have encountered considerable environmental and FN challenges > this could bode well for SC as we definetly have FN support in a general area where another proposed mine (Fortune Minerals Mt. Klappen coal) is under severe scrutiny by the local FN.
I doubt these recent govt and company decsions are being overlooked by Teck and any other larger mining companies interested in developing in BC.
