I was reading some of the comments too surrounding the environmental application and a lot of people were saying that it wasn't going to get built in our lifetimes, etc. There seemed to be a lot of confidence that it wouldn't be approved.
I don't know though, with this federal government....
There seems to be a lot of suspicion because the Yukon is stuck with the cleanup of an older mine, Faro, that is going to cost a huge amount of money. Or perhaps I should say Canadian taxypayers because I think Ottawa is paying the hundred of millions of dollars to clean it up.
They are particularly concerned because the mine plans on trucking in LNG power from BC. It is going to have an onsite fuel power plant that will generate more power than that used in the entire Yukon Territories.
The company seems arrogant and you know how that can cause problems. That is probably what happened in BC with New Prosperity.
I think they have a long haul ahead of them before they get approval.
