I have no idea how true it is but it was claimed today on Global TV that nobody had even inspected the place in the last 12 months....
That doesn't make sense because they were told by the Ministry of the Environment in May of 2014 that the water in the tailings pond was too high.
I don't know if Imperial Metals fixed the water levels though.
I found the information on where they had ramped up production recently. I'll bet the tailings pond wasn't built for this.
For the three months ended June 30, Mount Polley produced 12 million pounds of copper concentrate, 11,867 ounces of gold and 33,813 ounces of silver — increases of 46 per cent, 24 per cent and 35 per cent, compared with the first three months of 2014, according to a July 15 company news release.
