Message: Sad day for BC environment and mining

I think the strongest lesson we might learn from this tailings pond breach is that government oversight is lax. The BC government has come out and said they have been warning Imperial Metals for years that the pond levels were too high.

Imperial Metals apparently also applied for amendments on two occasions to enlarge their tailings pond.

I tend to agree that it is probably irrelevant to our project. It looks like an old, out of control mine that wasn't being properly regulated, or at least the regulations weren't being enforced. Maybe the environmental assessment people will put on a show of tough talk for new projects.
