I would anticipate more Majors following this plan and releasing this type of information in the coming weeks. IMO
Codelco is the state-owned company of Chile. They give most of their profits to the government and have to request money be returned for exploration and upgrades and haven't had a lot of money spent over the years because they had so many mines running smoothly. Now the grades and quality in Chile are being run down. Facing lower revenues they have to put some money in to improve the existing mines and do some exploration. They have to find their future in Chile and, as such, are not the same as Majors. I don't, personally, think the actions of Codelco can be extrapolated to other Majors.
In terms of being a positive for us though it does show weakening in the world's biggest supplier of copper and will contribute towards a deficit in coming years.
