The question is how profitable Zaldivar is. Their cost per pound of copper is $1.65 to $2.30.

If using $2 as average cost, Zaldivar at current price level is only going to make you 70 cents a pound or so. That's $154 million a year according to their current production.

Not a great asset. You have the government issues as well.

But basic finances, it's not that cheap to produce copper. Plus I don't think they produce any other metals to help out on lowering the costs.
