There was an article on the CBC a couple of days ago about Teck shutting down Duck Pond in Newfoundland. Teck arranged a dinner for all the employees to mark the occasion.
So about 300 people are going to be out of a job. You would think they might be angry or bitter but I thought the comments below the line were interesting. Here is a very positive comment about working for Teck. It reinforces the opinion that it is a good company to do business with--just to connect it to us.
Teck was the best corporate citizen in Central Newfoundland "ever" and they will be missed by all communities in and around central Newfoundland.
Anyone who worked on site, was treated fairly and all the sub-contractors and suppliers were treated like family. Very sad to see them go but after a large investment to try and find more materials proved it wasn't there its time to go and seek investments elsewhere. Good luck to a great company and management.
