The euro is a very fat guy skating on extremely thin ice.

If the ice cracks, Greece defaults and starts a domino effect in Portugal etc, the euro sinks. the US$, as the only alternative, would get a rush of buying, a safe haven bid, immensely strengthening it.

That seems to be the concensus, which is often wrong. Greece leaving the Euro zone might actually strengthen the Euro, as it will leave one less country siphoning off the strength of the others.
Also, any Greek negativity appears to be already baked in to the Euro price....today the EURO is actually UP $.80!
