When things change drastically, Management often has no choice other than to do things they previously though they would never have to do. Take Crescent Point Energy for example. Management of that company preached for years that the dividend was sacred. That a cut to the dividend would never be something they would even remotely consider, no matter what. And what happened recently? You guessed it... that sacred dividend was cut. Point here is that things change, and companies roll with the changes and sometimes they are forced to do things that they previously though they wouldn't have to do, for the survival of the company. Besides, I didn't say they are going to dilute, I merely pointed out that not everybody here has the same opinion that Management is 100% truthful in what they tell you over the telephone.
Also, calling any company and asking them over the phone "Are you considering diluting the shares?" and expecting them to say "Yes, we are!" is just being naive.
