It was just a mistake. You can follow the details on the Mineral Titles website. They had the claims registered until 2019 but then went and amalgamated a bunch of claims and obviously didn't realize that would change the date of forfeiture. They did the amalgamation in March of 2015. The new date of forfeiture became April 2016 instead of the 2019 date they had.
It was really sloppy, and I think unforgiveable for the person whose job it was to pay attention to these things.
One of the two people from the Yukon has 777 claims staked all over the place in BC. This is just how some people make money speculating on properties.
Today, the two Yukon fellas amalgamated most of the claims from yesterday into the West Zone and the East Zone. I don't know what advantage this would convey, perhaps it makes it easier to sell because they both are registered as 50% owners of each claim.
