copy/pasted in part from golfyeti's earlier post:
. . . . . . .
Teck posted a capital cost intesity graph once (I have it but can't seem to post the image) and the capital cost of QBII is listed at $5.6 Billion with a production rate of 135K tpd. Teck currently lists the mine life at 25 years with a possible extension. Currently listed cost is $4.7 B USD ($6.1 B CDN)
The same graph shows Schaft Creek with a capital cost intensity of $2.9 Billion CDN with a production rate of 100K tpd. The graph was produced before CUU showed that even a botched or sandbagged Feasibility Study shows a $3.2 B cost for 130K tpd. The 2012 FS shows 21 years mine life with a highy likely extra 4 years just in the 171MT low-lying fruit that no one dares to ugrade for some reason.
