I think Teck and Newmont played this perfectly,its obvious either Teck brought in Newmont or they engaged Teck,Newmont doesn't have any Canadian projects so a very shrewd move to take out the 50% of Galore from NG for a guaranteed of $200 million and then conditional payments of $75 million which is peanuts for them and the money helps NG avoid equity financing before Donlin project construction decision in essence NG was desperate and no one else has step to the plate with the capex that will be required for Galore up until now. So can you imagine if they took SC out before Galore what would be the asking price by NG then,I'm sure their would be many more eyes on Galore form the other big producers then and they would be asking for a greater valuation than what they got.Take out the more desperate one first. Perfectly executed. IMHO,I dunno ;)
