Who knows the reason why they wanted shares so bad? Maybe they think news is coming out next week because of all the repeat pumps on this board? Maybe they saw Elmer exercising options as a vote of confidence. At the end of the day the reason doesn't matter, they wanted that many shares and when theres no market depth the only way guarantee an order fill is to buy the ask.
Just because the price quote says something doesn't mean you can acquire or dispose of shares at that price. Based on the level 2 five minutes ago if you wanted to execute an order for 50,000 shares you're looking at 41 cents if you sell at market (bid) and 45-46 cents if you buy (ask).
PS - looks like stockfriend is claiming ownership over that transaction so you can ask him why he bought the ask instead of putting in a limit order at 42/43 and waiting for it to fill...
