This is completely on the NDP government. My local MLA ( Tom Shypitca) is the opposition critic for energy and mines. He has called the ministry for other N.O.W. Permits that have not been approved or addressed.. There are communities in this province that rely on exploration to put food on the table. Sadly the NDP have botched this badly. This one is NOT on Elmer and co. 

I'm not so sure that it would matter which stripe the provincial government is. The reality is that First Nations can and will quickly turn to the courts if there's no political support for their stance on resource development. Injunctions follow and work gets held up for years. The courts have come down on the side of Indigenous peoples quite often. It's a hard pill for exploration companies and their investors, but that's just the way things are today.
