Unreal! Sickening! One Teck fine by the government worth more money then the last 8 years of Schaft Creek program expenses! Crazy seeing that!
You're not going to see any sympathy from me. Teck is far from the worst offender out there, but the company has had its share of regulatory transgressions. I'm not an environmentalist (I wouldn't sink money into resource stocks if I were), but if there aren't hefty fines for repeat offenders, then industry some players are going to cut corners to shore up the bottom line.
We need a balance. We don't want to turn B.C. into a giant protected park. We also don't want the province's amazing natural beauty to be tarnised by careless industry practices.
