A company is bought based on the value of its assets, NAV, NPV. Anyone thinking a buyout price is calculated based on a random premium on top of current share price is making a huge mistake. Share price has no bearing in any negotiations; the buyout price is agreed upon based on the value of the company and then the share price premium is calculated from that, not the other way around!
