Teck's push on the South American assets and ignoring North America suggests that their management, regardless of who is in charge, is about as hopeless as CF. Their moves look amateurish and lacking in foresight. If it weren't for a friendly government I imagine someone would have snapped them up long ago.
The article mentioned by Kinte is probably only the tip of the market's dissatisfaction with them. They need a big win but, apparently, are too stubborn or stupid to push on SC. It's possible they are keeping it down to get Newmont to the table and not push them into a bidding war. However our management should be using this opportunity to push on getting all the studies finished asap and start the negotiations and if necessary use the ROFO. It might be the first time they have a sliver of leverage.
