Looking in from the outside, I am thinking that the qualified worker shortage is really going to be a problem.
'They are a projected 335,000 job opportunities arising in British Columbia and Alberta between now and 2014, especially in construction. The biggest demand relates to carpenters, electricians, welders, plumbers, heavy equipment operators and millwrights.'
What sort of workforce is available to fill these positions? Living in Ireland we can only dream of these vacancies..lol
As for the work schedule..I worked similiar hours when I was younger and was very happy to get the work. I think there is a growing realisation among the younger generation that any work is better than no work. They will have no problem adapting to these punishing schedules. I believe the next generation in Spain are being actively encouraged to work abroad. Certainly with the unemployment rates in excess of 25%, that will encourage anyone to look elsewhere. If I was only 30 years younger, I would be over in a shot with pickaxe on shoulder......And Canada looks like such a beautiful country..
Interesting times..
