Just finished reading up on it. Looks like they got snared into a local yokel battle with a hillbilly. They acted incorrectly and are now paying the price. Instead of coming at this sideways they should have dotted the I's. The 80 items on the deficiency list do show a lack of regard towards the people. As a Canadian company they should not meddle or be snared into a local battle. They are an embarrassment. They do not have grass roots support and will have to rebuild the respect if they ever had it in the first place. Their practices have raised the eyebrows of my geologist too. He didn't like what he saw. I'm having my local guy poke his nose around to get the local flavour. Sometimes it's not what it looks like. For all we know, the town might be split over this. We do know the company needs to have more respect. They had a tantrum when challenged and may have fired off some info prematurely. But, a tantrum none the less and that's not very Canadian. Clearly, we need to spank some of our mining companies. They are not the only ones behaving badly. Perhaps CUU can set an example. I for one don't want our companies behaving like Harper's illigitimate children in other people's countries. Just because our PM doesn't respect other countries is no reason we shouldn't. For now, there does not appear to be any spill over.
