Is't almost silly season on copper now...
"When it comes to copper, many of the downside risks that people were factoring in are no longer expected," said Catherine Raw, co-manager of BlackRock Inc. BLK +3.14% 's $432 million Commodity Strategies Fund. "It's quite an exciting market."
Bets on falling prices by hedge funds and other investors are down by nearly half since March 25, based on Commodity Futures Trading Commission data. Some investors say the metal's more than three-year decline is over.
Still, investors' worst fears about copper demand haven't come to pass.
"There was a considerable contingent that thought things were going to get really lousy," said Bart Melek, head of commodity strategy at TD Securities. "If China wants growth, they will get growth."
