Cougar Minerals Corp. is an exploration company engaged in the acquisition and exploration of natural resource properties in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
KILLDEER CONTRACTS GOLD BELT GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY will conduct an airborne geophysical survey on the Company's Gold Belt property in the La Ronge greenstone belt of northern Saskatchewan. The Company has contracted Geotech Ltd. of Aurora, Ont., to fly a VTEM (versatile time-domain electromagnetic) system over the property. Details of the 22,619 hectare Gold Belt property, including results of 15.08 ounces per ton gold and 5.41 ounces per ton gold from surface sampling, are available on Killdeer's website (www.killdeerminerals.com) and in the Company's new releases dated November 12, 2009 and December 3, 2009.
The proprietary Geotech VTEM system is a deep-penetrating, high-definition electromagnetic and magnetic system, which is able to detect conductive targets, such as massive sulphide bodies, to depths of several hundred meters. Magnetic and electromagnetic information generated by the survey can be used to delineate favourable geological units or structures, as well as zones of conductivity or magnetism which may coincide with areas of mineralization. This is a widely used and effective method for identifying targets at depth or in areas of poor rock exposure, for follow-up drill testing. Geotech will fly approximately 1600 line kilometers of survey on Killdeer's Gold Belt property. The survey will utilize a 100 meter line spacing in higher priority parts of the property, where mineral occurrences are known from historic work. A 200 meter line spacing will be used to provide coverage in lower priority areas, with infill lines flown as required for anomaly definition. A spring/summer field program is planned for the property and will follow-up on the results of the VTEM survey, with the goal of drilling high-priority VTEM and surface targets identified by airborne survey and the summer work program Linda Caron, M.Sc., P.Eng. is the qualified person under NI 43-101 who has reviewed and approved the technical content of this news release.
