Yesterday, David Einhorn, founder of the Greenlight Capital hedge fund ( a five billion dollar unit), delivered a speech before the bi-annual Value Investors Conference in NYC.
This speech pulls no punches in his criticism of current US gov't policy, lack of regulation efforts, the larger US banks, and special interest groups. Well worth reading , & to my mind an accurate read on what is going on here in the US, now.

P.S. In a strange twist for a pure Wall Street guy, he now likes gold. ( Also, it will take a few seconds for the speech to be loaded onto the link page, so please be patient)
Just as a matter of reference the US TV broadcast equivalents of BNN in Canada are CNBC TV, Bloomburg TV , and Fox Business TV . Of the three, I would consider Bloomburg to be most objective. The other two, and especially Fox tend to be less objective in my opinion, with a particular political philosophy coloring the type of stories or content provided. In any event, unlike the TV coverage provided to Canadian gold miners, and mining in general on BNN, mining doesn't get much play here in the US. It is all Wall Street, and not even main street that is the focus of these business channels.. It's as though the rest of country is of little consequence west of the Hudson River. It's amazing how far out of touch with reality these business news channels can be, but alot of people watch them.
Regarding gold, the US business media both in print, and on TV, it has been my observation, have a strong bias against gold as an investmernt choice, as it is considered the enemy of central banking, as well as the current and passed US economic system including Wall Street. You are far more likely to see a story in print or in the media disparaging gold as an investment, and it is interesting to watch certain TV commentators here in the US delight in bad mouthing it. Even today with the price of Au going higher, they would rather not write or even discuss it;they try to ignore it as much as possible. Life is interesting!
