Just to give you an idea of scale, ten years ago, the FED was worried about a meltdown in financial markets over a $4 Billion dollar investment that the banks wanted to call. This morning UBS (one bank) announced the writedown of 10 billion dollars in sub prime debt and the solicitation of $11 billion in new captial from the mideast.
