Conversion unsuccessful

The deputy to the National Assembly (AN), Pastora Medina also referred to the mining issue, commenting that the actions taken by the T05 to protect watershed areas, have not been the most appropriate. "That burning equipment and lift people in a violent manner, does not help in any way to solve the problem, noting that the state deprived of Justice on the rule of law".

According to the political leader the government is indebted to the mining communities because the process of converting mining was never enforced. "President Chavez ruled a decree which lasted one year and established several goals to promote development activities other than mining, but none of this was accomplished."

Medina said that the best way to have the government help is not hiding things, but accepted the mistakes.

This Tuesday the parliament will meet with the Bureau of Mining Affairs of the Ministry of People's Power for Basic Industries and Mines, for channelling complaints from the miners in terms of outstanding debts.
