Four key objectives will Mission Jose Gregorio Hernandez
President Chavez reiterated the importance of eliminating discriminatory terms to refer to people with some form of disability. Considered crucial accession of the entire population for this initiative
Fighting marginalization and exclusion of persons with a disability is the purpose of the Mission Jose Gregorio Hernandez. This was stated by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez Frias, during the act of launching this new initiative revolutionary.
The Municipal Theatre of Caracas, President Chavez identified the four key objectives of the Mission Jose Gregorio Hernandez, namely diagnosis of people with some form of disability, identification of the basic needs of the individual and his / her immediate family, designing programmes immediate care and social work.
He described the Venezuelan President that the social work should incorporate cultural and artistic programs, and job training for people with disabilities. Regarding the artistic and cultural aspect, urged the creation of art groups, choirs, among others.
He felt that this mission represents full inclusion "of hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans with a disability" and reiterated that they represent "an extraordinary contribution" to society.
President Chavez recalled that this mission was born almost a year ago, on July 24, under the name of Life Mission. However, considering that the life "as encompassing everything," decided to place the name of the doctor Jose Gregorio Hernandez, known for his selfless work in favour of the health of the most needy.
On the other hand, insisted on "remove" some of the vocabulary words degrading to describe individuals with disabilities. "The word 'disabled' should be removed from our vocabulary; disabled is capitalism, which is worth nothing and they are our compatriots who have the same status as us, and sometimes even more than we do for the effort they make to the spiritual level and physical. "
He stressed that this mission also aims to combat marginalization and social exclusion, to ensure the greatest amount of happiness possible to Venezuelans.
Finally, he urged all the people to join this initiative. "The Government, social movements, people's power, the Cuban medical mission, the Mission Barrio Adentro; all, we joined from today squarely in this mission not to be not a single compatriot excluding," while Hello President announced that the 307 will be conducted in Barquisimeto, Lara State.
