Yes, and what I said is correct with regard to someone you have voted for -- the total votes include you already, right?

As to the average, I wasn't very detailed having taken too many math and stats classes in my youth it seemed evident. If you have 25 people that have voted for you with an average of 3.1, and say you gave them a 2, if you change it to a 5 it would likely not change their average vote.

What am I missing in your questions?

I see that most posters have like 20-35 total votes, but a few have >50 and the new folks only have a few.
